True Treasure
Sailing to the treasure, a ship of silver and gold, Bonny quickly learns they are being followed by her rival Captain Jordan. Before the two ships can fight over the riches, a great sea serpent rises from the sea and blocks its course. Bonnie now must choose, should she stay behind to fight with her greatest enemy, or go after the treasure, leaving Jordan and her crew behind to perish?

In the Spring of 2022, as Juniors at the Savannah College of Art and Design, we were given the opportunity to pitch concepts for our senior capstone films next year. Though I didn’t initially plan to pitch, I had a moment of realization while mini-golfing during my spring break at Hilton Head Island. What if I made a short that follows along with a sea shanty? I spent the rest of the night listening to shanties and researching historic pirates when I learned about the infamous pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Read.
I made my pitch video, along with 80 other SCAD students. From there, my film was nominated to continue onto the second round by students and faculty. I had a week to find and recruit a team of 10 animators from concept art, technical, and 3D animation. I quickly made my team, considering each person's skills and attitudes. We were greenlit! I am a director!
We spend the summer getting to know one another; messaging each other on Discord and having monthly meetings. We all quickly bonded and got ready to “set sail”. This past fall we completed pre-production. From the animatic, character designs, modeling, and rigging, we did it all. The SCAD animation department was impressed and we were greenlit for production. After months of hard work, dedication, (and a couple of sleepless nights) we finished! Hope you enjoy the film!
