Trilogy of the Valleys

Trilogy of the Valleys is a documentary film shot between January and August 2022 in the municipality of Monção (northern Portugal). Created to be presented in a film-concert format, with live music, the documentary begins to the rhythm of local songs, followed by the voice of one of the inhabitants, who tells her story. As more images of the 3 valleys of Monção are revealed, we are taken on a journey through the testimonies of the daily lives of other people who inhabit this territory. What has changed? What remains the same? Trilogy of the Valleys is an ode to the simplicity of rural life, while at the same time drawing a portrait of populations living in isolated territories in Portugal. In addition to the testimonies, the images are accompanied by the music played and recorded live at the first presentation of the documentary, held in a film-concert format.
