Director Biography - Samantha Seiff

Samantha Seiff is a filmmaker based in New York City, originally from Las Vegas. She leads the rock fusion band My Mom Is Here and loves creating film projects that pair their music with bold visual storytelling. Her directorial debut, Birdgirls, blends comedy with (not so) subtle social commentary.

Samantha has a background in theater and graduated from Columbia University in 2022 with a BA in English. She has studied classical acting and Shakespeare at RADA, BADA, and LAMDA—where some of her favorite roles included Lady Macbeth (LAMDA) and Benedick (RADA). She’s drawn to projects that are a little absurd, a little heartfelt, and crowdpleasing.

Director Statement

In Totally Like Bird Girls, two Kardashian-esque women devolve into crows mid-argument. It’s a big joke—the transformation is absurd, the satire overt—and yet it’s deadly serious. This short marks my directorial debut, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to dive in with something this wacky and sharp. Though it sparkles like a reality-TV spoof, beneath the glam lies something far more urgent.

We’re inundated with content—TV, social media, self-care gurus—all insisting we’re not doing enough. It’s exhausting. Being in a woman’s body today can feel terrifying, impossible, like you’ve already failed because someone else’s highlight reel has become your benchmark.

As a musician (I run my band My Mom Is Here) and an actor with a theatre background, I’ve always been drawn to work that’s a little absurd, a little heartfelt, and built to entertain. In that spirit, I hope "Totally Like Bird Girls" can give someone a good chuckle and then a good think.

Here’s to flying—and vocal frying.
