Inspired by true events in 1976. Don Andrews visits his local bar and contrives a plan to become Toronto's next mayor by starting the Western Guard; a white supremacist group.. Committed to "making Canada great again" he vows to run a political campaign aimed at reducing immigration. Caught in Don's sinister plan is one unlucky black musician who attracts some unwanted attention.

Director Biography - sheronna shakara osbourne

Sheronna Osbourne is developing character on and off screen.
Canadian-born, award-winning actress-director-writer is a versatile talent, seamlessly navigating between roles in front of and behind the camera. Her films, showcased at festivals across North America, stand as a testament to her unwavering passion for storytelling.
Osbourne's entry into the film industry began in the costume department of IATSE, where she curated costumes for top shows filmed in Toronto since 2009. In 2020, she earned a Canada Arts Council Digital Creatives Grant, which she used to create her first short film, "Silence Of The Land." This socially charged piece delves into the experience of being Black in Toronto, showcasing her commitment to addressing timely social justice issues. The same year saw her sophomore short film, "Roni," clinching the Audience Award at the Toronto Short Film Festival. This success fueled Osbourne's burgeoning interest in directing, drawing inspiration from multi-disciplinary artists such as Issa Rae, Ava DuVernay, Jordan Peele, and groundbreaking shows like Black Mirror.
In 2021, Osbourne co-wrote, directed, and starred in award winning suspense thriller short film "Out of Order” . As a Black woman filmmaker, she is dedicated to carving out space for genre films that authentically capture the Black experience. Leveraging her expertise in costume, acting, and unique directorial vision. Currently, Osbourne is in post-production for her latest short film, "Remote Paradise," while concurrently penning her inaugural feature film.
Osbourne’s trajectory exemplifies a commitment to pushing boundaries, enriches perspectives and fosters meaningful conversations that celebrate Black voices and the artists behind them.

Director Statement

I wanted to explore this world with the help of strong colour, costume and location choices. An opportunity to time travel and add beauty to an otherwise sinister concept was a challenge I accepted fully for this project.
