To turn a blind eye
He wakes up, feeling the same way as always. The thought of going out is paralysing, and when he does go out, he encounters strange faces. They seem friendly at first, but this friendliness can turn out to be harmful. Solitude provides some relief, but not for long. The faces have become etched in his mind, and the next morning he wakes up feeling the same way as always.

Leander Emanuel grew up in the region of Konstanz, South-Germany, and began learning different dance styles, acting and singing at an early age.
He was soon teaching at various dance schools himself, which meant that he began to develop his own dance style already.
At the age of 20, he was given the opportunity to dance for the Dutch choreographer Wies Merkx. The following year, he moved to Amsterdam to study Urban Contemporary Dance at the Academy of Theatre and Dance. He graduated in July 2022 and danced in a production by Dutch choreographer Jasper van Luijk. Along the way, he also worked with artists such as Emma Evelein, Justin de Jager, Sara Europaeus, Woodcraft and others.
Leander now lives and works in Berlin. Most recently, he worked as co-choreographer and music editor on the piece ‘Herz(t)akt’ by Datamis Esfahani. He has also travelled to Sweden, other parts of Germany, Italy and Belgium for performances, a residency and cultural policy work.
He always adapts his approach to dance to the respective context and endeavours to create intuitive movements. He often develops his works in interdisciplinary collaborations with musicians, filmmakers and poets.
