Cecilia Rizzuto was born in Milan in 1998. She attended the Brera Art School, choosing the figurative address. In 2017, she enrolled in the Faculty of Cultural Heritage Sciences at the State University of Milan to continue her studies in Art History, her great passion. During high school, he collaborated on two short films in small productions. In May 2019 he started working as an art director for the music videos of the music production World Music Jam. Since September 2019 he has been working as a freelance light and set designer for live events, commercials and films. In May 2023 he directed his first short film Titus, the first of the trilogy (Titovsky, Titus Apocalypse). In the same year, he made videoarts, two of them using the stop-motion technique. In the meantime, he made a documentary together with his colleague Marco Vinz Pinnavaia, on Saint Sara, protector of the Romani people in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, in the Camargue region, still in post-production. He participated in the 48h competition with his second short film Primo, a doppelganger genre. In 2024, he would like to make his launch short film Amanti a Mano Armata, a film that is divided between a black and white story reminiscent of the Nouvelle Vague and a colour noir celebrating the genre films of the 1940s/50s.
The second chapter of the Titus trilogy is a journey into the mind and heart of our protagonist. The Russian voice, which is the inner voice, breaks against the buildings to identify the dystopia Titus is experiencing: a reality that breaks down both in the real world, creating concrete labyrinths, and in his mind, ascending time and space. Titus is like the character of the jurodivyj, who, in Russian literature, is the one who, travelling like a pilgrim, manages to grasp a hidden truth, which eludes others, and is therefore identified as mad and at the same time very close to God. In this case, the hidden truth is man's complex search for identity.
Titus questions himself. He falls into an abyss, into limbo because he is very close to the truth. He is in the dance of Shiva, as in Hindu mythology and perceived as the dance of subatomic matter for physicists, in continuous creation and destruction involving the entire cosmos; it is the basis of all existence and all natural phenomena.
In my opinion, Brutalism is the perfect architectural current to get lost in this calm chaos. Blocks of cement interlocked with each other, minimalist and clean design. A combination of light and shadow overpowering the human figure.
