Director Statement

TIMELESS is a speculative romance developed out of my curiosity to experience and capture a Black narrative that flirts with the concept of love and time. Naturally, I considered the stories that came to me when facilitating workshops at museums and plantations as a former program instructor for a company that worked closely with students across the United States and U.S. Territories. I wanted to have a larger conversation about love as it collides with pivotal moments in history from Colonial America to present-day for two Black/African American lovers destined to be together. Defying time, as if lucky to experience episodes of deja vu or reincarnation, A.C. Black and Elise Rivers somehow find their way to one another after every turn of events. This short explores themes on the timelessnesss and resiliency of love despite the impact of societal conditions. At its core, TIMELESS is a reminder that our love should not be in bondage.
