Experiencing Interruptions?

Time Between Us

Time Between Us is an experimental short film exploring the themes of memory and nostalgia. The narrative unfolds within a liminal space filled with the character's fragmented childhood memories. These moments are brought to life through the combination of projections, archival footage, and practical effects. As the protagonist navigates this ethereal space, she begins to understand the value in capturing memories and the blissful pain feelings of nostalgia can create.

Director Statement

‘"Time Between Us" is composed of home video archives from my cherished childhood memories, utilising these moments to evoke the bittersweet sentiment of times gone by. I came to understand the raw, unscripted nature home video footage provides, not merely as a record of the past, but as a portal back to it. These videos remind us that life, in its rawest form, is beautifully imperfect.

The film delves into the escapism of one's childhood. Establishing this connection between an older and younger self within a space where time appears to have halted. This confrontation between past and present affirms that one's past self remains within, whether consciously relied upon or not.

I invite audiences to reflect on their own childhood memories, to reconnect with their past, and to celebrate the unique journeys we undertake from innocence to experience.
