Born in São Paulo, Brazil, on October 13, 1989. Lives in Lisbon since 2017.
Currently between Portugal and Brazil he is starting the post production of his newest short film Procuro T, he was the third unit director of the TV series VANDA for SPI alongside Simão Cayatte. He co-directed 3 episodes of the Peixe Fora D'Água series for RTP2 with German production company Kleiner Bruder, and currently develops fiction series Sacred Flaws and feature film The Eight O'Clock Walk. He has also worked as a freelance casting director for production companies ShowOff, QUICKCASTING alongside Filipe Canto e Castro, Bendita Profissão, and TALENT.
Sobrevoos, his first original screenplay was selected for festivals and artistic residencies such as Guiões – International Screenplay Festival of Portuguese Language (Lisbon, 2015), PLOT - Professional Script Laboratory (São João da Madeira, 2016), and FRAPA - Porto Alegre Audiovisual Screenplay Festival (2021) top 15 semi-finalists. The project is presently seeking funding in Brazil through production company Aquarela and distributor Olhar.
Danilo was a part of the TODOS festival team and directed the documentary series Entretantos in 2019. He created the Drags Anonymaz series, about Lisbon's Drag Queen universe, under development by production company BRO and selected for pitching at the RIO CREATIVE CONFERENCE/RIO CONTENT MARKET 2018.
He curated FESTIVAL POLITICA 2020 in Lisbon through screening in partnership with Hub Segunda Segunda. The catalog of chosen projects resulted in the Audience Award for Best Film of the Year.
In 2012, he received the Short Film Stimulus Award from São Paulo's Department of Culture for Forgotten Memories from the End of the World. This film launched him as a young director, making his debut in the UK and receiving his first international award for Best Artists’ Film at the Aesthetica Short Film Festival. The film was also selected for festivals in Dubai, Colombia, Mexico and Brazil.
In 2015, he produced the documentary What connects us in partnership with PromonLogicalis, and was 1st place in the MOFILM advertising competition at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, with Atom, a video for Shell Youth Initiative. He also directed for MOFILM: You’re the blood in my veins, a co-production filmed in Bogotá, Colombia, in documentary format with motorcyclists from the Night Riders group, as well as the video The Request for NETFLIX.
Danilo's partnerships in branded content with MOFILM were: A Vision Through Sounds for Chevrolet, which was shortlisted at Cannes 2016, Rompe La Rutina for Pepsi Mexico, and Chevrolet BR's Drive as you are campaign in partnership with Lollapalooza. He was also part of the collective direction of two videos for Manchester United: Rituals for Chevrolet UK and Blend is a Success for CHIVAS.
