Director Biography - Le Thi Bang Huong

Le Thi Bang Huong, commonly known by her stage name Viet Huong, is a Vietnamese female music and documentary director.
Viet Huong studied zither, the Department of Traditional Musical Instruments at the Hanoi Conservatory of Music from 1979 to 1984. When musician Le Viet Hoa composed the soundtrack for the movie Chop Tien Tien, he could not find a singer to perform the song Spring. film frontier; He chose Viet Huong to perform. Viet Huong's voice was well appreciated by conductor Dinh Hung, after which she became a singer at the Central Music and Dance Theater. Since 1984, Viet Huong has been known through the radio with the song Hoa sim border (composed in 1979) by musician Minh Quang. Because she wanted to direct music videos, she studied film. Before graduating, Viet Huong met musician Thuy Kha and read the script of the musical film Finding Hoang Quy's songs. She edited the film according to this script and won the Silver Medal at the National Television Festival. In 1998, Viet Huong continued to make a documentary about musician Hoang Quy titled The Writer Cam Tu Quan; The film later won the Silver Lotus Award at the 12th Vietnam Film Festival. Realizing that there were few films about musicians of the Vietnamese new music movement, Viet Huong came up with a plan to make another documentary about this topic.

In 2000, Viet Huong graduated from the Film Directing Department of Hanoi University of Theater and Cinema. After the success of the documentary The Suicide Soldier Writer, she was accepted as a music director for the Arts Department, Vietnam Television. In 2003, Viet Huong continued studying and graduated as a Television Director at the Academy of Journalism and Communication. Viet Huong is the only female director participating in the program VTV – Song I Love for the 2nd and 3rd time; She became the first female director to receive an award from this program when the MV Hidden Autumn, directed by her, was in the top 10 videos voted by the audience of the 3rd program. In 2008, she graduated with a Master's degree. Art of Cinema and Television - University of Theater and Cinema. In 2009, after 10 years of accumulating documents, accumulating professional capital with the support of musician Thuy Kha, she started making the film The Dawn of New Music. The film won the Golden Kite Award in 2010 and the Gold Medal at the 2009 National Television Festival. In 2012, she directed the music program Almost Truong Sa, which won the Gold Medal at the National Television Festival. Viet Huong was able to complete the filming of this program in time to return to the mainland to attend the ceremony and receive the title of Meritorious Artist.

In 2019, Viet Huong was awarded the title of People's Artist.( This is Vietnam's top artistic award for a living artist – second only to the often posthumous Ho Chi Minh Prize)

She was elected Vice President of the Hanoi Cinema Association from 2022.

Through ups and downs along history, Ca Tru had a period of being misunderstood, dismissed and almost disappeared in the cultural life of Vietnamese people until it was revived in 2009 - after being registered on the UNESCO List. Intangible Cultural Heritage needs urgent protection of humanity. However, up to now, Ca Tru has not really escaped the long life. In contribute to making people have different perspectives on Ca tru is the reason NSND Viet Huong made this work
