Director Biography - Kayode Kasum

Kayode is a passionate Director and Cinematographer. His film projects include a two-part documentary series for the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), which aired across Nigeria. He has created and directed music videos, TV series, and shot campaigns for brands like Forbes, Ndani TV, DHL Shipping, Manchester United, Best Ever Food Review Show (BEFRS), Belvedere Vodka, ARM Pensions Managers (PFA) Ltd., ART X Lagos, Union Bank Nigeria, African Cable Television (ACTV), and Clover Industries Tanzania.
In 2017, he released Nigeria's first live-action animated movie titled, Dognapped, in cinemas across the country. Kayode’s films have been screened in various festivals around the world, and he has received several awards for his work, including Canada, France, Serbia, Kenya, Italy, United Kingdom and Nigeria.
Kayode shoots most of his films in English, different Nigerian dialect, including pidgin (broken English), because he believes in trickling down our cultural practices from one generation to the next, both in Africa and the Diaspora. His project “Oga Bolaji (2018)”acquired theatrical distribution in the United States and Nordic countries.
Kayode has shot as director for over 7,860 minutes on MNET’S telenovela series “UNBROKEN.” Kayode’s filmography as a director, among others, includes the Nollywood blockbuster - Sugar Rush (2019).

At times like these when hopelessness and uncertainty are the order of the day, a story like This Lady Called Life, which realistically tells of the rewards of grit and hope-filled perseverance, is more than entertainment. It is a necessity.
This Lady Called Life is the kind of uplifting, heartwarming story that is always a crowd-pleaser among mothers. This film was made with a lot of heart that goes into its narration. It also carries a huge emotional baggage that is sugar- coated with layers after layers of superbly timed humour but is sure to leave many viewers with tears during its heartbreaking final moments.
The film showcases the strength of a woman, love, chasing your dreams and living up to your aspirations against all odds, mildly touches the ripple effects of rape, the struggles of raising a child as a single mother and what it means to be Nigerian.
