This Is Anywhere
Recognizing the work of racism is only possible by questioning and interrogating one’s own privilege and acknowledging own racism unless one has never experienced oppression before. It is no longer a discussion topic, whether individuals, who do not belong in a colonized community either in the past or in the present, have any racist approaches or internalized a discriminatory way of living and perceiving the world. The question “Am I racist?” does not have any relevance, since repression has become a practice, which is applied daily. It should be asked, how one can dismantle their racism and escape the body and its racist constructions. In terms of this awareness, I wanted to reflect on the everyday racism in my audiovisual project.
