The Woman Doesn’t Exist

This narrative documentary short film, which is part of the Radiofémina Disperses project, shows three essential women in Mallorca's history, such as George Sand, Clara Hammerl, and Aurora Picornell. They oppose the figure of a nonexistent but real person, Elena Francis, representing her antithesis.

The music in this work becomes a fundamental part of the emotion that transmits the truth behind these remarkable women's events and lives.

As Disperses' proposals have always been, Radiofémina is also a work of creation with a markedly literary scope and disseminator of culture made by women, based on the analysis of highly topical and current issues.

Director Statement

This project is my second one as a screenwriter and director, and the first one within these roles with my actresses company Disperses.

We show the ideas of very different women in history, relevant and brave women, who defeated the struggles of their time by standing in front of problematic societies.

But one of them is part of the society, a woman who wasn't real because now we know she was a team of scriptwriters preparing the answers for desperate wives in need of help at home.

Different actresses' voices were hired to read those supposed answers so that wives stayed keeping their morality untouched. At home, with their family.

The other three are the best examples for us women who want to express who we are. The real us fighting out there and helping each other.

My goal is to give narrative for women its natural place in the world of cinema and storytelling.
