The swimmer

"The Swimmer" is an animation inspired by footage created by Vittoria Assembri and Gaia Ginevra Giorgi in sea of Stromboli (Italy). This project represents a visual journey in which movement and color become protagonists. The animation explores how these two forces intertwine, giving rise to a composition of shapes and shades which come together in an animated painting until they disintegrate. The video was the video theme and corporate image of Filmmaker Festival of Milan 2024 and selected for PANORAMICA*24 curated by Visual container, Milan.

Director Biography - Giulia Savorani

Giulia Savorani (1988) is visual artist and filmmaker. She graduated in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera. Afterwards she deepened her studies in filmmaking at the Civica Scuola di Cinema Luchino Visconti in Milan. In 2019 She completed the master Moving Images Art at the Iuav University of Venice. Her research lies on the borderline between visual arts and cinema. Her films and installations have been internationally presented in Australia, South Africa, Switzerland, Greece, Russia, Lithuania, China, Belarus, Belgium, Turkey and in several Italian cities. She won the Video Art Award 2022, an Award dedicated to video art between Italy and South Africa, Centro Luigi Di Sarro, Rome, Italy, and the Next Generation Film Festival 2022 with the best artist’s film. From 2019 to 2021 she collaborated as an audio video operator for Zapruder Filmmakersgroup. She works as a teacher in the artistic field since 2017. She recently created animations and drawings for Fondazione Cini Venezia and Filmmaker Festival, Milan. She currently teaches at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan and Bergamo.
