My name is Ryan de Rooy, I am a passionate indie film maker. I strive to create new and original ideas but with themes that are relevant, relatable and exciting. I'm an award-winning Producer, Director of photographer, Writer and Director. I've had the most incredible fortune of working on numerous short films and a feature film. I've harnessed my craftsmanship through years of working with a range of talented artists within the industry. I've shadowed industry leaders such as Ron Brown (CEO of Ozflix) and Max Miller (Director of Aunty Donna).
Film for me has always been more than just a tool for storytelling, to me, film has always been an experience. Whether watched on a phone or on the big screen, the moving picture medium is an artform like no other. Every time I go to the movies, I expect one thing and one thing only, too be entertained. At the heart of every film is a story that encapsulates our imagination, but I believe that beyond that, a film should take you on an enjoyable ride. With our film ‘There’s Someone Here’, my goal was to not only create a film exploring the themes of paranoia and not being alone, but to create a gripping roller-coaster of suspense and fear. Something that audiences can latch onto in droves.
