JEN KUHN enjoys a career as a writer/director, producer, actress, and cellist based in Los Angeles.
She graduated high school at Interlochen Arts Academy and went on to conservatory at Cleveland Institute of Music for Cello Performance.
Her feature screenplay THANKS FOR LISTENING advanced to Second Rounds for both the Austin Film Festival and Sundance Screenwriters Labs. She has most recently worked as Script Coordinator for Amazon's MODERN LOVE and MOZART IN THE JUNGLE, and as a Director's Assistant for Kat Coiro (She-Hulk, Marry Me) for a couple pilots for Fox/Disney Studios.
As an actor, she has appeared in TV and films such as PARENTHOOD, CASTLE, BOSTON LEGAL, and most recently in Bernard Rose's latest film TRAVELING LIGHT opposite Tony Todd, in which she was also Associate Producer. And as a cellist, she has recorded on over 200 movies and TV shows.
She is currently preparing to direct her first feature GRACIAS PADRE - set in Mazatlán, Mexico.
When she isn’t filmmaking, writing, acting, or playing cello, she can be found elbow deep in the dirt of her garden plot in a peaceful community garden, smack in the heart of Hollywood, harvesting vegetables and exhausting her friends with garden metaphors.
Jen is a member of the WGAW, SAG-AFTRA, and the AFM.

With this film, I hope to highlight a particular type of suicide with aging men dealing with grief and loss of a loved one. I lost my uncle this way and as my dad ages into his late 80’s I worry about him too.
Suicide is a leading cause of mortality in the United States.
And according to the CDC these are the most recent figures (from 2021).
Among adults age 55 and older, the suicide rate for men was 29.6 deaths per 100,000 population verses 6.2 for women.
And as the men get older, the suicide rate increases to 38.2 (ages 75–84) and 55.7 (age 85 and older); whereas the suicide rate for women as they age gets lower, down to 3.3.
And firearm-related suicide was the leading mechanism of death for men age 55 and older.
In this film, I wanted to explore the final days of a man determined to take his own life and his preparations to make peace beforehand. I wanted to capture the cycle of loss, isolation, and suicide. And how we as a society are there (and not there) for each other in our busy modern lives, despite having plenty of ways to connect.
