There may be crowds among us
"There may be crowds among us" proposing an experiential journey through the Occupation Eliana Silva throughout the campaign that elected Bolsonaro, in the recent rise of fascism to power in Brazil. The film is driven by the depth of the subjects who live in the community and where, through their dreams, desires, contradictions and memories, they constitute the imaginary of this microcosm building a documentary that articulates itself as a mural painting.

Aiano Bemfica and Pedro Maia de Brito made the short films "On the mission with Kadu" (2016) , "tell this to those who say we've been defeated " (2018) and "Videomemory " (2020) togeter. And, more recently, documentary "There may be crowds among us"
The film that we present here is the result of a continuous work along with the Fight for Housing and Land Movement in Brazil. Our first three films, “On the mission with Kadu” (2016) and “Tell this to those who say we've been defeated pequim” (2018) an “Videomemory” (2020), both filmed amidst the heat of the struggle of the homeless movement MLB (Movement of Struggle in the Neighborhoods, Vilas and Favelas), already sought ways to deal with the footage produced during social struggles in Brazil, and think about the possibilities of a cinema engaged in the present lives of its people. Now, in this feature film that we present here, we seek the constitution of a work that spreads, simultaneously, in three axis: the Brazilian political struggle marked by the rise of fascism, the process of establishing a settlement community and, mainly, the recording of the subjectivities of men and women who build these fronts on a daily basis. To this end, the documentary is inspired by the works of Mexican muralists of the early 20th century, so that, through a camera immersed in daily life, always with an open plan (taking into account spaces, collectives and people), establish spaces for exchange, listening and opening up to their characters' stories, dreams and desires. With its montage conceived from the notion of autonomous structuring blocks, the film presents a strong and concise structure where scenes and situations start, develop, intensify and then give way to the next scene. The only image that returns is that of the collective: the community as a crowd. Thus, because we believe that we have made a unique documentary that, based on a continuous relationship of achievements with the MLB, was made within a community in struggle in Brazil, in one of its most critical moments in our recent history. We are confident that “Entre Nós Talvez Estejam Multidões” can bring a politically and artistically renewed work, sensible to people and their subjectivities and, at the same time, impacting by its social commitment.
