Iron Venture is a gritty, historically grounded dieselpunk odyssey born entirely from a single mobile phone. Trapped on a late-1790s sailing vessel, a young man faces grueling physical routine and psychological torture under a captain driven mad by a vendetta against his father. To build this uncompromising, 30-minute epic without a desktop setup, the creator pioneered a dual-platform workflow. By balancing two distinct AI platforms simultaneously—using one to forge raw visual assets and leveraging an AI counterpart as a strict historical analyst—this project pushes the absolute limits of mobile filmmaking and unfiltered independent storytelling.

Kathy Nelson is a generative artist and mobile-first filmmaker based in Wisconsin. Working exclusively on her Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, she creates short films and animations using AI-assisted tools and apps. Her work explores gothic, fantasy, and emotional storytelling, proving that compelling cinema can be made with just a smartphone and creative vision. Each project is written, produced, and edited entirely on her phone, embracing the constraints of mobile filmmaking to craft intimate, visually striking shorts with depth and atmosphere.

"The creation of Iron Venture was born out of a desire to see how far a creator can push world-building using only a phone and subscribed AI applications. Because I refused to compromise on the world's complexity, I developed a unique, simultaneous dual-platform AI workflow.I orchestrated two different AI platforms at the exact same time to weave the narrative. While building the visual identity of the ship and crew, I utilized my second AI assistant as a dedicated, real-time historical fact-checker. Every brutal disciplinary measure, ship specification, and maritime routine was cross-referenced to ensure absolute accuracy within our dark, fictional framework. Iron Venture stands as a testament to what a solo mobile artist can achieve when they treat AI not just as a tool, but as a genuine production crew.
