Director Biography - Zhangxiang Fan, Vearnest Mcclellan

Vearnest McClellan was born in Chicago, Illinois. He started learning performance at a young age. He excelled in singing, dance and acting. His mentors included talents from Chicago’s famous performance art association called, “Second City.” As a member of various award winning speech teams, he read numerous scripts and started writing screenplays at age 16. In college he excelled in studying the psychology of acting from professional coaches and world class mentors. His speciality in performance arts were in comedy and dramatic acting. Upon graduation, he has completed numerous jobs related to film production, including producing, directing, writing and acting for major projects around the world. He has also worked on comic books, graphic novels and shares his love for performance as an acting teacher and coach.

Fan Zhangxiang, a male native of Hunan, is currently studying in the TV Editing and Directing Department of Xi’an Polytechnic University. His works have won awards at the Sweden Film Awards and the Los Angeles Film Awards. As a director, he focuses on emotional depiction and atmosphere rendering, paying attention to the layout of details and the use of props. As a director of Generation Z, his works are deeply influenced by multicultural imagery, often focusing on the exploration of human nature and cultural integration.

Director Statement

How far would you go for the one you love? Would you choose immortality? Mr. Williard is peculiar man. Despite his occupation, he has no identity or past. Who is he? That is the question that drives Detective Grant and Wang, after a series of graphically violent altercations are linked to their current mysterious captor. The dreary and tired prisoner tells a surreal story that begins in ancient China and lasts centuries. He was a swordsman who fell into poverty due to his unwillingness to kill. However, a gorgeous young woman with her own tragic tale, motivates him to find happiness through love. Unfortunately, she becomes seriously ill and he is forced to fight again to earn enough money to save her life. He is driven by a mythological story that states if a man performs 10,000 heroic deeds, he may gain a medicine for immortality. Can he fulfill his deeds and save his wife’s life in time? Both detectives listen intently as the truth of his journey, modern existence and fate of his wife are revealed.
