Three Visits To Mariana's Tower
The Tower of Marianna – one of the few Tower houses of the Lesbian countryside that still survives – a
rare sample of traditional folk architecture, still stands boldly, “belted”in the ravages of abandonment
and time. Three visits in the Tower give prominence to matters of memory and management of local
cultural heritage. Through the eyes of the visitors, the Tower shows up as a symbol around which
multiple meanings are organized about domesticity, kin relations, festive sociability, friendship, death
and life itself.
