The deceiving Elide
“Elide the Deceiver” is a 22-minute metatheatrical short film that intertwines cinema, theatre, and Borgesian Fictions to explore the ambiguity between truth and artistic deceit.
In ancient places steeped in memory, a theatrical project evokes the deeds of a lost princess: as power decays and truth dissolves into falsehood, she discovers that the only way to restore justice is through deception — orchestrated as a form of art.
But this story is framed within a fictional stage play directed by the imaginary filmmaker Falko Meyer, creating a matryoshka of fictions where each layer questions the nature of reality.
Set among the abandoned rural architectures of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, the film transforms the local serizzo granite into a silent witness to the fragility of collective consciousness.
Through allegorical undertones, metaphysical atmospheres, and sudden flashes of irony, the work explores the boundary between theatre and life — where every illusion becomes a source of reflection in the search for a deeper truth.

Michele Scaciga is an Italian Multidisciplinary Artist and Art-Mixer with over thirty years of experience in visual arts and digital communication. His diverse output spans painting, illustration, comics, sculpture, and notably, video art, short films, and multimedia works, aiming to merge "painting, video, music, poetry, and everything I know" into his creations.
His work in the audiovisual and multimedia fields has earned significant recognition, including the First Prize for Best Italian Short Film at the Malescorto Festival in 2004 for the video poem "Argento e Oro" (which was also 5th place at Venice "Circuito Off" and selected by Maremetraggio – Festival of the best European short films).
As the director and founder of the "Gara di Moonwalking" cinematic art group, his filmography ranges from short films ("L'Elide Ingannatrice," 2025) to a rich body of video art and interactive installations since the 1990s. His notable works include:
Interactive Video Art Installations: "La mia casa, il tuo museo" (Stresa, 2023), "Granum" (Baveno, 2014), "Terre di pietra e di passo" (Domodossola, 2011), and "Panta Rei" (Ornavasso, 2009).
Video Art Scenographies and Paths: For theatrical performances ("Fuego Gitano," 2010 with Giammarco Tognazzi) and events in historical sites (Buronzo Castle, 2015-2017).
