Director Biography - Heidi Stokes

Since completing an MA In Fine art at Central St Martins in 2001 Heidi stokes has screened and exhibited her work nationally and internationally. Heidi has been selected for numerous film festivals and events, beginning with her very first move away from sculpture to creating animations in 2011, which was shown in the festival 'Anima Call' in the Contemporary Art Centre of Thessaloniki. In 2011 “A picture of tomorrows world” was Screened at the Rich mix cinema bethnal Green in collaboration with the cabinet of living cinema, a meeting of artists dedicated to creating “living cinema” experiences through live performance. She was then Selected for The 1st International Women's Animation film festival in Vienna titled "Tricky women' that has since been recognised as one of the leading animation festivals to apply for. She has also been selected for the BAFTA recognised London Short film festival ( LSFF ) which screened at the ICA, London in 2016 and this year 'For Ray' has screened at many great festivals including the highly acclaimed BAFTA animation festival 'Encounters' showing at the Watershed bristol and 'For Ray 'got shortlisted for The finalists from Animation NOW 2017.

Heidi Stokes makes animations, which specifically question or re-evaluate our psychological needs, by reinventing the meanings of objects, spaces or people.
