Val Mamaev (born 2006) is a Russian filmmaker currently studying Film Production in the UK. Frequently travelling, he is based primarily in London and Portugal, where he continues to expand on his writing and directing craft by seeking out new stories and experiences.
My name is Val Mamaev. I’m a self-taught filmmaker and an aspiring fiction Writer/Director. Over a few years of work and self development in the industry, I have found interest in psychological concepts of perception and perspective. Throughout my works I’ve explored how situational perception can almost definitely affect our understanding on certain topics. The intention behind my films is not necessarily to offer a moral change for the audience, but rather to introduce an alternate view, leaving the audience to question their previous, almost certain understanding on the topic being discussed. Over the years of trying myself in different aspects of the industry, important learning outcomes have been deduced such as time management, decision-making, and teamwork, each contributing to better myself and my reputation as a filmmaker. Trying myself in different aspects of the art has helped me shape a better understanding of the broader industry, and the work of different people contributing to the realisation of the film, and by bringing all of this knowledge together, I intend to improve my skillset and experience as a fiction Writer/Director.
