Avrum is the story of the Cossack Massacre of 1648, following the story of a young Jewish boy who survives after his community vanishes overnight. The cast are largely from the region, and the story features native spoken eastern Yiddish, animals and ambiences recorded in Ukraine, and a Klezmer-inspired soundtrack. While it is historical fiction, this closely mirrors the horrors our ancestors endured, brought to life with chilling accuracy.
