Director Biography - Laura Pedrosa

Laura Pedrosa is a Portuguese filmmaker and film scholar and writer. She completed her Master's in Communication Sciences - Film and Television in 2025 awarded by Universidade Nova de Lisboa and her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Film Studies in 2019 awarded by King's College London. In 2016, she earned a filmmaking certificate from the Met Film School in London.
She participated in an exchange with the Faculty of Media Studies at the University of California, San Diego throughout 2018. She is currently getting her PhD in Communication Sciences at Universidade Nova de Lisboa since 2025. In 2022, she was a teaching assistant for the UC Berkeley study abroad program, in collaboration with FLAD. Her short-film, The Painter, was present at several international film festivals and won an award for best first short-film. She was a producer, writer and press liaison for LEFFEST – Lisboa Film Festival in 2019 and 2024 and has worked field of communication with emphasis on Film, Radio and Television. She has published several articles in Portuguese newspapers and worked in several theatrical productions as both a video producer and operator and as an assistant director.
