Harrison is 12 years old and is a passionate actor, singer, filmmaker and musician based in Adelaide, South Australia. His recent short film, The Wanderer, which he wrote, directed, shot, edited, scored and starred in, won Best Sound Design at the Screen It International Film Festival (Gold Coast) and was officially selected for the Setting Sun Film Festival (Melbourne), Sparrowland Short Film Festival (Brisbane), UnderExposed Film Festival (Adelaide) and Prague Youth Film Festival (Czech Republic) in 2022, and won two of five major prizes (Best Film-Prep and Best Cinematography) in Princes Film Fest 2021 (Adelaide). His original song ‘The Last Boy in The World’ features in the soundtrack. Selma (2022), made by 11 year-old Rizz, has already claimed Best Film-Prep and Best Cinematography at the 2022 Princes Film Fest. Earlier films won Best Sound and Best Editing in the 2019 and 2020 Princes Film Fests (‘Isolated’ and ‘I Can’t’, respectively). Connect at @realrizzthomas on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Beginning as a 2-minute short submission to my school film festival, The Wanderer took on a life of its own as pandemic fear descended worldwide in late 2021. The haunting landscape of Lower Light, South Australia provided inspiration for my post-apocalyptic hero origin story. I didn't need to force the story- just let the landscape speak through my phone lens. The original year 5 submission included a commercial rock song over the credits, so I wrote and recorded the theme song with my dad to make the project completely my own.
