In the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda in Tabango, Leyte, young Russell clings to a single firefly for comfort as the storm shatters his world. When the fireflies that once lit his nights begin to disappear, Russell must brave the darkness to find a new light of hope in the face of overwhelming loss.

JP Corton, a rising director from Ormoc City, began his filmmaking journey in 2018 and is a valued collaborator with Kapengmukha Productions and the award-winning auteur production boutique, Archipelago. His debut film, NALUMOS AKONG PAPA SA SABAW (2023; MY FATHER DROWNED IN SOUP), earned the Jury Prize at the Film Development Council of the Philippines’ Sine Kabataan Short Film Festival. The film also captivated audiences internationally, screening at Jakarta Film Week and the San Diego Filipino Film Festival, where it won the Audience Choice Award, as well as in various local film festivals. In his free time, JP creates narratives filled with childlike wonder, offering a unique glimpse into the imaginative worlds of young adolescents in his hometown.
