The Value of Meat
Nowadays, it is very difficult for people to find a job, live in normal conditions and adapt to the world around them. Therefore, they resort to different ways for the sake of survival. The easiest of those ways is to sell their organs and blood.
Orhan, like many of his friends, uses this way to survive and pay off his and his sister’s debt. In order to pay off his debts to his acquaintances, he sells his piece of junk car, so that he can keep his kidney. Even though he paid off some of his debt, he still has a lot of debt to pay to different individuals and institutions. On top of that, he wants his sister to have a normal life (a life where she doesn’t need to sell her body parts), which puts Orhan in an enormous debt which is overdue. Therefore, he can no longer run away from the operation and gives his kidney to the bank.
Orhan, whose health is declining gradually, looks for different ways to survive after the operation because it has become difficult and unprofitable to do grocery shopping in exchange for blood. In other words, he has paid off his debts, but he has to borrow again just to survive.
In this situation, he joins a new application thanks to his close friend. Orhan is now just a walking advertising sign for a company. As he wants to level up in this business, he sells his personality and morals, just like he sold his body, piece by piece. That’s why he sees himself as less valuable, like a nobody, but he has to continue doing the job because he has no other choice.
However, it is not enough for companies to only use people as walking advertising signs. They deceive Orhan with their implicit rhetoric about taking him to the next level of business. In truth, they are after the individuality of Orhan. In the eyes of the company, there is no more value in having a personality or being an individual. Now, Orhan and thousands of other people are just a shell for them. And emptying and filling those shells are their, -the companies- job.

-The Value of Meat (2022) (Graduation Project) (First Short Film)
I was born on November 3, 1998 in Istanbul. I graduated from Istanbul University AUZEF Radio, Television and Cinema department in 2022. I was always interested in visual works, even when I was a kid, we used to make small movies with my friends. I studied theater for a short time. So I like to deal with every branch of storytelling. As time progressed, my dreams did not change and even expanded a little. I try to walk as much as possible on this road.
