The Upper Room

In the tense hours after the crucifixion, Jesus’ disciples hide in the upper room, wrestling with grief, doubt, and fear. As Mary Magdalene’s testimony and other reports arrive, the locked room becomes a crucible where faith and despair collide, until the risen Christ finally appears, turning silence into resurrection hope.

Writer Biography - Patrick Burns

I’m a screenwriter in Dallas, Texas who is passionate about stories that wrestle with doubt, redemption, and the relentless grace of God. With a background in psychology, business, narrative design, and love of Scripture, I write films that explore deep questions without sacrificing emotional grit.

My script Faith Under Fire was a 2025 quarterfinalist at the Faith in Film International Festival and nominated for Best Action, Adventure, or Thriller Screenplay at the CONTENT Film Festival. I recently completed The Upper Room, a chamber drama set in the hours after the crucifixion of Christ, and I am currently working on a faith-based screenplay.

I write for believers, skeptics, non-believers, and everyone caught in between. Grace is always possible for anyone who asks. That truth lives at the heart of every story I tell because no one is ever too far gone for redemption.

As for my personal life, I love God, my wife, family, & friends. I enjoy attending my church, my career, traveling, studying psychology, writing, comedy, playing golf, and of course, watching films.
