I have always been drawn to the art of story telling. My first memories are of me narrating stories to friends and family as a five year old kid, growing up in the by-lanes of a small town in rural India. I grew up watching neighborhood theater artists perform live and remember being in awe of the playwrights and with the whole craft of theater production. This gradually turned into a passion of film making, with me devouring tons of books on the craft and watching gazillion movies from all corners of the world. While I could not make it my profession, due to missed opportunities, I have never lost love for films and film making.
Finally, in 2018, I decided to take a plunge and turn my dormant knowledge into a tangible product. I gathered a group of friends and family and shot my first short film in 3 days with a crew of 3. Since then, I created multiple short films of various lengths with various friends and colleagues who were kind enough to indulge me in my efforts.
I revel in all aspects of film making and most of my films have me donning multiple hats - writing, editing, VFX, camera and of course my favorite part - the direction. More recently, I have been dabbling in music as well and thoroughly enjoying it.
You can check my work by following the youtube link under my profile. More films in the pipeline.
Enjoy the world of cinema.
This is my first short film in my native language Telugu (from India). When I started working on this project I wrote on my white board the following- "introduce characters->create curiosity->create spookiness->create fear". I hope I was able to translate that onto the screen.
While I understand that film making is a team effort, it is not always possible to find people with skillsets to volunteer for low or no budget projects. For this film I wanted be the all-on-crew doing all pre and post production efforts. And this film I played with all aspects of film making and spent time on every aspect whether it is story boarding, location scouting, camera, editing or music.
The challenge of filming in a moving car with limited lighting and no crew was both challenging and at the end rewarding. And the later summer nights added to the challenge.
The greatest surprise is the actors. All of my friends who are first time actors were very natural in front of the camera and shined with their performances. This film would not have seen the light without their full support. I am every grateful to them.
I hope I was able to create a good entertaining and engaging thriller. Hope you enjoy the film!
