The Titan Suite

Art documentary about how Titan, a working class neighborhood in Bucharest built in the 60’s inspired a jazz funk album, Suita Titan, by Iordache, a saxophonist and composer who grew up there between 1967 and 1987.

It features interviews with his mother and childhood friends, which paint a sentimental map of youth in formerly Communist Romania. It also served as a crowdfunding video for the album.

INTRODUCTION

Medicine Madison is an interdisciplinary visual artist and classical violin student from Bucharest, Romania. Her works are held in private collections across the world (in Italy, in Romania, in America and in Israel).

Director Statement

My first documentary film, Suita Titan is an explosion of colour and sound, featuring plenty of unusual effects, and with a colour scheme inspired by the products found in stores across Communist Romania, in the 70s and 80s.
