Director Statement

This short documentary serves to reflect and highlight the three country prophecies written within the primal craft.

We shot everything in a single-take with no cuts and backwards, to reverse the time in post-production. The choice of reversing the time speed comes from the intention of provoking an unsettling feeling. Our brain notices that something is "off" before knowing the footage is reversed, while preparing the audience to listen, what the three country prophecies are. We do not explain the prophecies in this film, we leave it open to interpretation. Furthermore, the directing choice of reverse has had different interpretations, one is to align to the fact that we are moving backwards as a society and a more positive one, translates the metaphor of going back to our origins.

Set dressing was carefully crafted with real books and items used in primal craft and historical sigils, carefully positioned in our set for the film. Everything mentioned is based on written and published material. Nothing was fabricated or altered to make this film, with the exception of the acting performance and soundscape for dramatic purposes.

The project was made in the context of the Newcastle Film Club challenge in the North East of England.
