Director Biography

Justin is a filmmaker, playwright, and sailor interested in the evolution of Canadian drama as a building block for a richer national identity. He holds a BFA in theatre from the University of Victoria.

Coming from the theatre he primarily works in Production and Lighting in film. He co-produced Red Light Rebel (Crazy8s 2025) , associate-produced the feature film “Mongrels” which world premiered at Vancouver International Film Festival (DGC Horizon Award) and the short film “SO-RI” part of VAFF’s 2024 Mighty Asian Moviemaking Marathon. He was the Project Manager at The Canadian Play Thing Theatre, showrunning the audio drama series “A Way Out” and creating the interview series “Playwright to Playwright” funded through Playwrights Guild Canada.

Director Statement

Over the years, I've come to appreciate the market of Verticals and there place in our industry for new actors and creatives to cut their teeth.

I’ve Assistant Directed multiple Verticals that stream on Reelshorts or Dramabox, and have an understanding of the predominantly female and ESL target audience, along with the more cheesy and high-stakes stories made for quick viewing.

As a writer, I hope to elevate the quality and nuance of verticals while still embracing the campy soap opera style that this format needs to engage audiences on their phones.
