Jake James Whitford is an AACTA Award Nominated Writer and Director based in Melbourne, Australia. His storytelling focuses on creating characters and giving them unique and raw experiences. Mostly focusing on isolation and self discovery meanwhile humanising these experiences.
As a kid, the most interesting humans to me were my parents.
We all remember what it was like to be a child, and because we can relate to their feelings and their innocent and unique understandings, it was important for me to tell this story of a family's shared loneliness, love and struggle through the lens of a child.
I chose to capture this story on 16mm film as I feel it reflects how we view our memories as a child. 16mm carries a very human, dreamy and nostalgic feel which I believe helped encapsulate the dynamics amongst the Fairy Princess's household.
