Director Statement

I made "The Silent Theater" when I was in a bad place so I didn't really give it the attention it deserved, initially. In addition, I was making it for a class and I often have an obstinate reluctance to do things that aren't completely on my agenda. Perhaps this film is a lesson to me to embrace assignments that come my way and appreciate them because I really am happy with how it came out. When we were filming it, I knew exactly what I wanted and I knew that the actors and crew were doing a phenomenal job, but I never really felt it and was kind of embarrassed of this film at first. I didn't even show it to my parents until almost two years after I made it. They were so touched by it and that surprised me - their reaction convinced me to sit down and give it a real look and I liked what I saw.
