Heather Magee is a Canadian independent filmmaker originally from Vancouver, British Columbia and now based in Venice, California. She is a writer, producer and director known for The Shop Around the Corner (2019), a film born from her award-winning script.

Director Statement

The journey to creating "The Shop Around the Corner" began without intention, as the screenplay originated as a gift for a friend. But when I sat down to write it, the story took on a life of its own and has since won several screenwriting awards. That warm reception gave me the guts to go ahead and shoot the film, a project I produced, directed and self-funded. And while I currently reside in Los Angeles, it was important to me to have the film set in my hometown of Vancouver, with an entirely Canadian cast and crew.
