Director Biography - Maynard Bagang

Maynard Bagang is a Filipino-American actor and was born in Angeles City, Philippines. A Holy Angel University Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering graduate. He retired as a Police Officer in Las Vegas, Nevada and was awarded by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department the Medal of Honor for rescuing a hostage while taking fire during a robbery shooting. He also served and retired in the US Navy as a Nuclear and Mechanical Engineer. Maynard is an Iraq war veteran. He was certified as a Nuclear Technician by Counter-Terrorism Operations Support (CTOS) at the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Maynard also learned and trained Karate in Tokyo, Japan where he attained the rank of a Yon Dan (4th degree) Blackbelt under the Japan Karate Association. He was the 2013 and 2014 Western States Karate Champion. Maynard is a USA Team member who competed at the 16th Karate World Championship Tournament in 2024 in Tokyo, Japan. Maynard is currently serving as an Inspector for the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
After retiring from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2017, Maynard started his acting career. In 2018, Maynard became a member of SAG-AFTRA. Some of his best works are from the television series' In The Shadows, My Father's Keeper, and the movies Starstruck where he played scenes alongside Eddie McClintock. His short drama film,The Business Trip, gave him his first Best Actor Awards at the 2024 Hong Kong Indie Film Festival and at the 2023 Kansas City Independent Film Festival. The film, I'll Be There, gave him the opportunity to portray a role alongside Jasmine Batchelor, Celestina Harris, Alkaio Theile and Dorien Wilson. I'll Be There won the Audience Choice Award at the 30th Austin Film Festival and won The Best Feature at the Santa Clarita International Film Festival. Maynard also appeared in the documentary film Wristlock: The Martial Arts' Influence on Police Use of Force.
Maynard made his first directorial debut in his SAG-AFTRA Signatory Drama short film, The Sanctuary, where he also played as the Lead actor and won the Best Director Short Film award at the Indie Vegas Film Festival. He was also won 2nd Place for both Best Actor in a Short Film and Best Director Short Film categories at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival for his short film, The Sanctuary.
Maynard also directed his new Sag-Aftra Signatory Feature Film, The Sanctuary, which is scheduled to be released in 2026.
