The Right Bus

A poignant, soul-stirring film based on a novel by Glenn Ward. Two strangers, drawn inexorably to the Scottish West coast, meet in Oban and begin a relationship. Connie intends to return to America, a place she once called home, and David has an important career to follow. Is the bond they’ve made strong enough to keep them together? Or are they to be ships that pass in the night?

Director Statement

I have a strong connection with Argyll as I was brought up in the west coast of Scotland. To me this is one of the most interesting landscapes in the world, every corner you turn, a new vista opens up.The wild rugged coastline, the uneven mountainous interior, the sparse population clinging to the very edge of the European continent – this is the world of the film. It represents freedom from conventional living which in turn frees the mind to consider a new ways of living. The loss and redemption for Connie and her children in The Right Bus is an affirmation that tragedy and unhappiness can be overcome with new beginnings. Her meeting with David, a bachelor who is totally committed to his research work, sparks something in them both that is positive and uplifting. It is not without its ups and downs, but as in life, it is about making the right choices, at the right times, with the right person – getting on the right bus when it comes along. But unless you get on the bus you will never know if it is the right one or not
