Writer Biography - J.B. Dunn

I’m a professor with a background in mathematics, physics, and business, and I’ve always had one foot in the creative world. Alongside teaching, I’ve had hands-on indie film experience and spent years helping students sharpen their skills in camera work, acting, and visual storytelling.

I write sci-fi and fantasy that blend grounded science with big ideas and emotional stakes. My stories often deal with identity, legacy, flawed father figures, and how technology or belief systems can push people to their limits. Whether it's a memory-warped future or ancient Atlantean tech buried under Orkney, I'm drawn to stories that challenge, entertain, and offer something deeper beneath the surface.

Family, diversity, and character-driven storytelling are always at the core of my work. I try to build worlds that feel honest and lived-in, where the speculative serves the human story first. Screenwriting isn’t just a creative outlet for me. It’s how I explore the past, the future, and everything unresolved in between.
