Director Biography - Lauren Melissa Rosson-Moore

Lauren Rosson
Independent Screenwriter/ Podcaster
Sacramento, California

Lauren Rosson is an independent screenwriter and emerging director whose work blends emotional depth with imaginative storytelling. Based in Sacramento, California, she has established a reputation for crafting character-driven narratives that challenge expectations and illuminate the quiet, unusual truths of everyday life. Her creative perspective is marked by both courage and curiosity — qualities that enable her to transform unconventional ideas into compelling film concepts.

Lauren's approach to filmmaking is guided by her desire to surprise the audience and to normalize the oddities that shape our world. Her belief is simple, yet profound: the people who don't look, speak, or behave like everyone else are often the ones with the most meaningful stories to tell. The Reform Project is one such example- where fear, humor, and empathy reveal a deeper message about survival and identity.

I'm diligent in my work, and I've learned I can't be like everyone else because the outcomes of my failures--and my successes--will never be the same. And above all, I love being a screenwriter!

The original concept for the "Reform Project" began as a micro script--growing from just 4 pages to 10, driven by my desire to enter the "A Place Called Sacramento Film Festival" located in Sacramento. The film was designed to evoke a sense of fear while weaving in just enough humor to make the story both unsettling and strangely charming. In this story, the protagonist is unpredictable and far from ordinary. Yet, within this bizarre world, legislation has stepped in to guide her reintegration, introducing her back into society to remember what it means to be human. She'll determine not only her own fate, but the survival of others.
