LUKE KREGER is a director, cinematographer, and editor currently based out of Oakland, CA. Growing up in Northeast Iowa, Luke was a fan of old school monster movies like "The Wolfman”, “Godzilla”, and shows like "The Twilight Zone”. These otherworldly stories shaped his filming style, using fantastical tales to help simplify complex topics about the human experience.
In 2017, Luke was brought on to work for Cinematiq which sparked his move to the San Francisco Bay Area. Once in the Bay, Luke and his talented DP partner Dora Tsui began producing short films at an accelerated clip. Their projects "Please Call for an Interview", "Lucid", and "Devil's Fish” had success on the festival circuit, screening at the San Jose International Short Film Festival, Culver City Film Festival, and the San Francisco Indie Shorts Festival among others.
During a screening at the San Francisco Indie Shorts Festival, Luke met another talented filmmaker, Sam Hyatt. Luke has since worked as DP and colorist for a number of Sam's short films including "Raise the Bar" which was featured at the Charlotte Film Festival, Atlanta Shortsfest, and East Bay Comedy Festival.
Beyond narrative short films, Luke has worked on mini documentaries that highlight Bay Area creatives, including Japanese tattooist, Horitomo, and psychedelic horror artist, Skinner.
Growing up I was obsessed with cryptids and the paranormal. I watched all the shows on the topic from “Destination Truth” to “Ghost Hunters”. “The Print in the Woods” personifies my childhood fascination with the strange unknown in the film's protagonist. This story aims to focus on a person who is part of this eclectic community of folks who are obsessed with the world of bigfoot, mothman, and the bizarre.
