Monica is based in Nelson, New Zealand. She took a scriptwriting course in 2019 and has been writing ever since. In 2022 she directed her first short film, The Predicament.

Director Statement

I was a high school teacher before I became a scriptwriter. I feel the way teenagers are portrayed on screen is usually stereotyped and often unfair. I wanted to counter that by portraying the sort of teenager I came across all the time but rarely saw on screen.
