The Other Side Of History

Based on an article by Uduma Kalu and scripted for screenplay by Nwelue and Odega Shawa, 'Other Side of History' is set in 1958 and follows the ambitious story of Biafran hero, Odumegwu Emeka Ojukwu.

It focuses on the life of Emeka Ojukwu, between 1954-1960, before Nigeria's Independence, as he spends time frolicking with different women and throwing parties for his friends, inviting highlife originator, E.T Mensah, from Ghana to play for him with Bobby Benson, singing at his birthday party.

In the lead role as Ojukwu is Greg Ojefua who stars alongside Chiwetalu Agu, Rachael Okonkwo, BBNaija star Tope Adenibuyan (Teddy A), Eze Justice, Chika Anyanwu, Greg Ojefua, Juice Egah, Jamal Ibrahim and Ugo Stevenson.

In 2024, Other Side Of History Premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Director Biography - Onyeka Nwelue

Onyeka Nwelue is a Nigerian writer, jazz musician and filmmaker.

His documentary House of Nwapa was shortlisted in the Best Documentary category at the 2017 Africa Movie Academy Awards. The next year, Nwelue adapted his novella Island of Happiness into an Igbo film, Agwaetiti Obiụtọ, which was shortlisted in the Best First Feature Film and Best Film in an African Language categories at the 2018 Africa Movie Academy Awards.
