Sultan Ali’s passion for filmmaking began at a young age when he was exposed to the wonders of media. Being raised in southern Canada and New York City, he quickly learned how his identity as an African-American male was perceived as distorted and flat on the TV screen. To create a change, he started directing and writing his own work to share his mission of creative storytelling. Sultan holds a Bachelor of Arts, with a concentration in Film Production from Brooklyn College.
"The Next Stop" is a story about finding the self-worth to overcome any obstacle. I believe we all deal with this dilemma and have a hard time accepting that our gifts take time to shine. Living near the Universal Hip-Hop Museum for more than four years, I realized our idols dealt with the same issue. That inspired me to tell a fresh story that focuses on hip-hop with a twist of adventure. In my opinion, there has been no greater artistic progression than the evolution of hip-hop culture. I believe any film I create serves two purposes; to excite and to engage the people. My passion is to serve as a medium for the audience through creative storytelling and wildly exciting visuals.
