The Motherland

"This story is not just about one woman but about all the women who have lived in these lands for centuries."

A woman carries her invisible presence amidst the silence of the Caucasus mountains, with the echoes of abandoned suitcases and motifs of her roots. She travels as a memory of countless women who were stripped of their voices and names, displaced, silenced and resisted. The woman identifies herself and the women of this land with the Khari Bulbul flower, a fragile but resilient symbol of Karabakh.

Through nature’s embrace, the burden of history and life dissolves into soil, wildflowers, and wind. What remains is not despair but rebirth: a return to roots, to language, to the land that shelters and redefines her.

“The Motherland” is a poetic journey of women reclaiming freedom by dissolving into the timeless strength of the earth that once held them captive and now sets them free.
