The McAn Man

I read from my 2013 short story The McAn Man, an elderly man with a yen for 4th grade girls, 1960's memorabilia and a quirky shoe fetish, particularly rayon laces ... for strangulation(s), mounting over the course of years throughout The Los Angeles Unified School District. The current iteration of these homicides is November, 2024, an El Nino Season of excessive rains. I lived in LA from November, 1986 until June 2000, working as an electric and water meter reader for The Los Angeles Department of Water & Power from 1990 to 1998. I retired in February, 2025. This before reading took place in Los Angeles before moving to my current home in Bakersfield over five years ago. The story has many surprise plot twists and rich use of language. The short story, approximately 5,000 words, is available and improved upon, available on my website: https:www.lulu.com/spotlight/Brian_Spellman and could easily be made into a short, relatively low budget film but not by me, as I live alone in a 300 square-foot apartment in Bakersfield without Industry contacts or money. That's why I enter contests on FilmFreeway very sparingly. Unlike others whom I compete against, The McAn Man, along with all other projects is by me and me alone.

I wrote this as a short story and narrated that 5,000 word short story in Los Angeles, Winnetka (The San Fernando Valley), a month before departing to my current home, 100 miles north in Bakersfield. The story is essentially the same now June 2025 as it was then in May 2000 but greatly upgraded on https:www.lulu.com/spotlight/Brian_Spellman and includes a laundry list of famous solved Serial Killer investigations. I worked as an electric and water meter reader from The Los Angeles Department of Water & Power from 1990-1998, traversing every neighborhood throughout LA and have watched and learned by assiduously surveying YouTube Serial Killer Documentaries where I too have a channel at https:www.youtube.com/@Brian_Spellman AKA Pontiff Pilates. My Posters often win on FilmFreeway, as occasionally do my screenplays (I most often enter these categories, living in a 300 square foot apartment, alone, difficult to do much else. My videos on FilmFreeway are compressed and efficient as well, particularly latest Norman Bates ones updated daily. In this upload, the topic is dead serious, leaving cautious but clever sardonic humor. I hope that you enjoy watching me narrate.
