The Loop
The film follows the life of a poet who struggles with depression. Every day, the poet wakes up feeling trapped in a loop of uninspiration and sadness. They try to escape this cycle by seeking inspiration from their surroundings, but nothing seems to work.
As the days go by, the poet becomes more and more lost in their thoughts and feelings. Although they need help, the only thing that they can do is bottle up their emotions untill they crack. They start to lose hope and begin to believe that they will never be able to escape their mental prison.
Through their writing, the poet tries to express the turmoil inside them, but the more they write, the more trapped they feel and the louder the voices get. They try to break free, but no matter how hard they try, they always end up back where they started.

Sara Maria Bărbat is a young queer filmmaker, writer, and visual storyteller from Alba Iulia, Romania. She explores identity, memory, and emotion through experimental short films that blend poetry, introspection, and raw imagery.
Her work often begins with a feeling — something she can’t name but needs to express — and grows from there into fragments of voice, light, and movement. For her, filmmaking is a way of turning inner chaos into meaning, of making sense of what cannot be said aloud.
Sara is also involved in theatre, photography, and film clubs, constantly seeking new ways to understand and express what it means to be human.
