Regan Hutton began working on independent films at 18 and from there her passion led her to currently pursuing a film degree from University of North Georgia. She's excited to have a career in an thrilling entertainment industry. In late 2022, she directed her first short The Locked Trunk. After finding her voice she was given the opportunity to direct her second short- I Think Bob Is An Alien, in Spring 2023. Hutton is currently in development for her next short which will begin production early 2024.
Growing up, I felt different than my peers around me. I never really fit in, and I felt like I always struggled- whether that being my experience with ADHD, my odd sense of humor, or my need to march to the beat of my own drum.
I always felt like something was missing, and I tried to find that through the arts. I did almost every area of the arts that I could find; I painted, I wrote poetry, hell, I did theatre for 12 years! It wasn't until I was 15-years-old when sat down to watch Greta Gerwig's Lady Bird when I discovered the power of movies. I felt like I was watching my own life on the screen. That was the moment that I decided I was going to be a filmmaker.
I love quirky stories about odd people trying to fit in and find their place in this world, and those are the stories I'm going to tell.
Growing up, my family always had an old trunk in our living room. It had been passed down from generation to generation. It had always intrigued me. When given my first opportunity to direct my own film in school, I knew right then my trunk had it's purpose.
