Simon Jones is an innovative filmmaker with a unique approach to storytelling and visual style. His work often explores themes of absurdity and surrealism, pushing the boundaries of conventional cinema. Simon is a founding member of People Versus TV, a collective dedicated to avant-garde and subversive media. Utilising cutting-edge tools like Unreal Engine, Simon creates compelling narratives that challenge and entertain audiences.
"The Lift" is a surreal exploration of routine and reality. Inspired by the monotony of daily life, I wanted to create a film that takes a seemingly mundane situation and turns it on its head. Through the protagonist's journey, the film delves into themes of disorientation and absurdity, wrapped in a layer of humour and suspense.
This project also allowed me to further explore virtual production with a green screen. Only the actors are filmed; everything else is created in Blender and Unreal Engine. My goal was to blend these technical innovations with engaging storytelling to offer viewers a unique, thought-provoking experience.
