The Last Whistle
High school football Coach Victor Trenton is beloved by the town and is a father figure to his team. When the all-star player dies of cardiac attack during an intense practice, all eyes turn to the storied head coach. Instead of mollifying the situation, the coach tries to push the team to continue their winning streak rather than giving them proper time to mourn. Now with the dead player’s mother pressing charges the coach must decide if his reputation, his career, and his livelihood is worth his pride.

Writer/Director Rob Smat is a USC grad and Texas native. For his first film, The Last Whistle, he combined his resources between his fellow alumni and his hometown connections to successfully produce the picture.
I spent my film school years with mentors who told me what was and wasn't possible. When I set out to make The Last Whistle, these gatekeepers told me not to waste my time. So far my team and I have proven them otherwise.
